Mr. Ellen’s primary responsibilities include sourcing, researching, underwriting, closing and managing Madison’s real estate-related investments. Mr. Ellen has over seven years of experience in performing due diligence and financial analysis of illiquid real estate and distressed financial instruments, along with real estate lending and joint venture equity transactions. Mr. Ellen has completed more than $225 million of investment volume and been responsible for managing an investment portfolio valued in excess of $330 million. From this portfolio, cash in excess of $200 million has been received and either distributed to investors or successfully redeployed into new investments. This portfolio consists of assets in the hotel, retail, multifamily, office, net lease, self-storage, condo conversion and marina sectors. Mr. Ellen manages Madison’s real estate investment team which has successfully completed in excess $150 million of investment volume over the last twelve months. Prior to joining Madison in 2000, Mr. Ellen was an auditor with KPMG, LLP for one year. Mr. Ellen earned a BS and MS in Accounting from the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business.
