Bryan E. Gordon

Mr. Gordon has 24 years of experience in investment management, investment banking and management consulting, emphasizing the areas of asset-based corporate finance and real estate. Prior to co-founding Madison in 1996, he specialized in equity and debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, roll-up and formation transactions, and restructurings of limited partnerships, REIT’s, corporations and joint ventures. Upon his graduation with cum laude honors from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1983, Mr. Gordon joined the Risk Planning Group (Darien, CT), one of the preeminent global risk management consulting firms. Mr. Gordon served as a Risk Management Consultant for the Risk Planning Group between May 1983 and May 1986, during which time the firm was acquired by Tillinghast, Nelson & Warren and is now known as Tillinghast/Towers Perrin. In September 1985, Mr. Gordon began a Masters of Business Administration program at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business, majoring in real estate finance. In May 1986, Mr. Gordon joined the Real Estate and Partnership Finance Group at E. F. Hutton & Company, Inc. (New York), where he served as a Summer/Part-time Associate through his graduation from Columbia in May 1987. In June 1987, Mr. Gordon joined the Investing Banking Division of Smith Barney, Harris Upham (New York) as an Associate and was later promoted to Vice President. In February 1991, Mr. Gordon joined the Investment Banking Division of Bear, Stearns & Co., Inc. (New York), where he served as a Vice President focusing on real estate and health care until August 1993. In September 1993, Mr. Gordon returned to Smith Barney, Inc. (New York), where he served as a Director in the Real Estate Investment Banking Group until February 1995. Mr. Gordon’s real estate clients included Kimco Realty Corporation, Marriott/Host Marriott Corporation, Public Storage, Factory Stores of America, Starwood Lodging, IRT Property Company, Chelsea Realty, The Carlyle Group and Omega Healthcare Investors. Mr. Gordon has been a regular speaker at European hedge fund and private equity conferences on the topic of distressed investing strategies. Mr. Gordon earned an MBA degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business and a BS in Economics degree, cum laude, from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Gordon is a member of the firm’s Investment, Compliance and Expense Allocation Committees. |
